Ad Altare Dei Religious Emblem Offered This Summer

Seventeen boy scouts from all four Scripps Ranch troops will work together this summer to earn their Ad Altare Dei (AAD) religious emblem at our parish. Pursuing a religious emblem is an important part of a scout's "duty to God and country," one of the three promises of the Boy Scout oath. The AAD emblem is designed for 13- and 14-year-old boys and older of the Roman Catholic faith.

"Ad Altare Dei" or "to the altar of God" was founded to prepare altar servers but has evolved into a way to develop a fully Christian way of life through an exploration of the seven sacraments. The most important aspect is that the scout grows in his spiritual experience of his relationship to God and the church.

Highlights of this summer's AAD activities include a tour of John Paul the Great Catholic University, a campout retreat at Camp Balboa, a month-long service project to benefit the elderly and disabled in our community, a Q&A with our pastor about his vocation to the priesthood, and an interview on matrimony with the diocesan directors of the office of marriage and family life.

Traditionally held from October to May, this is a pilot, accelerated program at our parish for the summer. The bishop will award qualified Catholic boy scouts their religious emblems in a special ceremony in June 2013.

San Diego Community Christian Fellowship (SDCCF) meets Sunday mornings at 10 am at the SRCA Community Center at 11885 Cypress Canyon Road. We welcome you to join us for worship and praise, remembrance of the Lord's table, and ministry from God's word.

SDCCF is a non-denominational church that has met for the past 25 years in various locations in the Pacific Beach and Clairemont areas. We began meeting at the SRCA Community Center about six months ago and invite our neighbors to join us in our new home.

  • We value our oneness and fellowship with all who in every place call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We encourage the functioning of every member under the headship of Christ and desire to worship and glorify Jesus. We seek to make Him known by word and example.
  • We welcome all to fellowship with us in Jesus Christ our Lord.
