Scripps Ranch Pony Registration

Walk-in registration for the 2004 Pony Season will be on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 am to 12 pm. It will be at Jerabek Elementary School's auditorium. The cost is $150 for the January through June season.

All 13-year-olds and new 14-year-olds need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. Mail-in registration will be sent in mid-November to returning players and 12-year-olds who played Little League in Scripps Ranch last season. Sign up as soon as possible, as the league is limited to a certain amount of players.

All players who sign up before the Monday, Dec. 15, deadline are assured a place on a team. A clinic and an evaluation will be held in January for all registered players. Practices begin in late January, with games beginning in late February. Softball News and 2004 Season At A Glance

During the off-season things don't seem to slow down much. There's always something that needs to be done before we launch into the spring with softball running at full speed. In September, 12 Scripps Ranch softball volunteers descended upon the Scripps Ranch High School softball field to renovate it. The league brought in $400 of "Hilltopper" dirt to rebuild the pitching mound, the batters box, and to fix up the "bullpens."

Pickaxes were flying and volunteers were sweating as they dug through field clay, Scripps dirt--better known as rocks. The result was well worth the effort as the field looks and plays great.

Fall ball this year has again been successful as we have eight teams playing: four in Mira Mesa, two in North County, one in GSF, and one independent team. The board election is complete. Check the website at [www.eteamz.com/srsa] for details.

Last year our league sponsored more clinics than ever before. We look to equal that this year. Tentatively planned clinics include "Just Softball," Pitching and Catching, High School Clinic, Fitness Quest with 10 speed camps, and more.

The season at a glance looks like this:

• Saturday, Dec. 6--Registration for new players; returning players receive it in the mail;
• Saturday, Jan. 10 and 17--Mandatory evaluation clinics, details TBA;
• Saturday, Mar. 6--Opening Day; and,
• Saturday, May 15--Closing Day.

Scripps Ranch Soccer Club

The Scripps Ranch Soccer Club (SRSC) and its 1,800 plus players are already near the end of another fun season. Thanks again to the coaches, sponsors, and families who make this possible for our children.

Sunday, Nov. 9, is Scripps Ranch Soccer Club Night at the San Diego Socker's game as they take on the Kansas City Comets. Contact Cha Cha Namdar if you have any questions or are interested in attending this fun night at the San Diego Sports Arena.

The end-of-season Recreational Tournament for divisions 3, 4, and 5 will be held in mid-November. Be sure to check for dates and times for the various divisions, and come support your fellow players and neighbors.
